Rs 10 lakh insurance for every SHG woman: Seethakka

Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Seethakka announced that under the Accident Insurance Scheme, each female member of the Self-Help Group (SHG) receives an insurance coverage of Rs10 lakh in cases of accidental death. Since the inception of this insurance scheme in 2024, a total of 231 claims have been settled, amounting to Rs. 23.1 crore disbursed to beneficiary families. The Minister remarked that this initiative offers significant financial relief to SHG families, mitigating the impact of unforeseen accidents. In addition, through the loan insurance scheme, insurance coverage of up to Rs. 2 lakh is extended to outstanding loans incurred by female group members from banks.
